About the project
My Flexispot desk came with a keypad that knows up, down and a few presets. Smart Flexispot takes its place on the control box's line and speaks the same serial protocol, worked out by the LoctekMotion community, from an M5Stack Tab5, a 5-inch touchscreen. Moving the desk is what it is for: its height always in view, any preset a tap away, and one button that takes it to standing or sitting.
With a whole screen to fill, the rest came as extras. It shows the lights and heating through Home Assistant, what plays on Jellyfin, my next lecture with when to leave for it, the Claude Code sessions on my laptops and a focus timer. A radar follows the planes overhead, with their routes and photos.
Unplugged, the panel goes anywhere in the room on its battery. A small board I designed then stays at the desk, powered by it, and passes the panel's commands on over Bluetooth.
It is written in C++ with ESP-IDF and LVGL, tested in CI and updated over the air, and the whole interface also runs in a simulator on my laptop, where these screenshots come from. I built it with AI as a pair programmer; the design, the architecture, the hardware and the details that make it feel right are mine.
